Seattle, WA — [February 25, 2025] — Macguffin Co. is thrilled to announce the addition of artist Juan Hernaz to the creative team for our latest multimedia entertainment franchise, Hugo & Humdrumbl. Juan’s unique art style blends whimsy with a touch of surrealism, making him the perfect fit to visually express the enchanting world, as he partners with writer Nia Soto.

Set in Andalusia and beyond, Hugo & Humdrumbl follows the epic journey of Hugo, a lonely young boy who discovers a parallel world in which the forces of creativity are at war with the forces of creative destruction. The project aims to engage audiences of all ages, sparking creativity and wonder while exploring themes of friendship, resilience, and the power of imagination.

Juan has illustrated many universal classics including The Man Who Planted Trees and The Quixote. His books, Grandpa’s Suitcase and However Small It Seems, have been recognized with the International Picture Book Award ‘Ciutat de Benicarló’ (Spain) in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Juan has also illustrated books for notable authors Gonzalo Moure (Cervantes Chico 2017 award) and Wenxuan Cao (Hans Christian Andersen 2016 award).
