“When a hamster odd-couple escapes a pharmaceutical testing lab, they must learn to survive among the warring inhabitants of a contaminated nature reserve - and find an antidote before nature turns unnatural”
Synopsis: In the bowels of The Triangle, a nefarious pharmaceutical testing facility in New Jersey, an unlikely pair of hamster test subjects bicker incessantly - Felix, the tidy and uptight one, and Oscar, his slothful counterpart. Little do they know, the cruel experiments conducted upon them are about to turn their fraught relationship on its head.
The potent pharmaceuticals coursing through their veins have twisted their personalities into mirror images of themselves. Suddenly, Felix finds himself overcome with a slovenly lack of motivation, while Oscar is a veritable whirlwind of manic energy. But that's not all - both have developed extreme layers of rippling muscle and exceptional strength as side effects.
As the drugs take full effect, their escalating animosity threatens to derail their meticulously plotted escape from the facility's maze-like confines. However, their newfound skills at navigating the complex ventilation system's twists and turns, honed from the torturous maze-running trials, ultimately allow them to break free into the wooded surrounds.
They stumble, exhausted, into The Biosphere - a Central Jersey nature preserve where a kindly shrew takes them in. Here, the detoxing hamsters shed their excessive brawn as the drug toxins leave their bodies. But as their original personalities reemerge, they realize something is amiss in the wetland sanctuary.
The Triangle's noxious pharmaceutical runoff has contaminated The Biosphere, sending the resident creatures into frenzied disarray. Some grow lethargic, while others descend into irrational violence. Caught in the crossfire of a vicious turf war between rival gangs of naked mole rats and voles, the bickering duo has no choice but to take sides - Felix begrudgingly aligns with the voles, Oscar with the mole rats.
Meanwhile, the kindly shrew proposes a plan to contact the EPA about the Triangle’s pollution of the wetland. She suggests using a tiny Go-Pro camera mounted on Felix’s head, paired with an iPhone, both stolen from Triangle researchers, to document the erratic behavior of the creatures in The Biosphere.
The conflict reaches a boiling point as the gang war escalates into outright carnage across the nature preserve. Just as Felix and Oscar begin to work together to unite their respective factions against The Triangle, disaster strikes. Felix is recaptured during their return to the facility while attempting to access the antidote.
Desperate to save his erstwhile friend, Oscar devises a plan to lead the Triangle's researchers and security team into a hastily assembled maze within the facility’s corridors. Using his knowledge of the layout from their many marathon, pharmaceutical-fueled trials, he successfully traps the humans in a locked room while he scours the facility to find Felix and retrieve the antidote.
In a final, desperate gambit, the reunited comrades lead the voles and mole rats to unite and distribute the cure throughout the wetlands, before its too late.
